(Note:  The following is by no means an all-inclusive list. It is intended to be a sampling of the many available atractions Charleston offers its visitors. Central States Trailways is not, by this listing, promoting any particular vendor, party, or entity over another.)

Candlelight Tour -- The Candlelight Tour Saturday evening, April 19 th, at dusk is enchanting! As daylight gives way to evening, volunteers begin to line the streets with white luminaries that encompass the entire Dogwood-Azalea Trail. Residents turn spotlights on banks of azaleas, and candles line the sidewalks. Many view the candlelight tour from vehicles while others prefer to walk the route. Featured entertainment makes the tour even more enjoyable. Free Admission.

Walking Tours -- Take a guided walk through the historic residential area of town to view numerous beautiful homes. Tour guides will tell you interesting tidbits of information about the residences along the way. Which ones are Sears packaged homes? You'll find out! The tour will take place on Thursday, April 17th, at 10:00 a.m. and will last approximately two hours. Guided tour cost is $5.00 per person. Location: Charleston Chamber of Commerce, 110 East Commercial Street.

Plant Sale -- Since 1952, the Molly French Garden Club has been supplying area gardeners with azalea varieties hardy to the region. The sale will be held Thursday, April 17th - Saturday, April19th, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday, April 20th from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. Location: Shelby home, 307 North Main Street. Free Admission. Piano Praise Concert -- Piano concerts, with 8 pianos, 16 pianists, and 1 organist, will take place at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, April 19th, at 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and on Sunday, April 20th, at 3:30 p.m. The lovely music will capture the attention of young and old alike. Location: 301 South Main Street. Free Admission.
Historical Society Home Open House -- The Historical Society Home is a lovely, turn-of-the-century, three-story Victorian home furnished with pieces authentic to the period. Tours are available Thursday, April 17th, through Saturday, April 19th, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and on Sunday, April 20th, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Location: 403 North Main Street. Admission is $3.00. Fish Fry -- A fish fry with all the trimmings, prepared by the well-known James Bayou Cookers, is on Saturday, April 19th, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Admission is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. Reservations are required for groups and bus tours. Location: Charleston High School Commons, 606 South Thorn Street.
Parade -- The Dogwood - Azalea parade is one of the largest in the area. It will be held on Saturday, April 19th, at 11:00 a.m. The parade begins on North Main and proceeds through the downtown area to 1200 Commercial. Free Admission. Fun in the Park -- Rolwing Park will be filled with arts and crafts, food booths, live entertainment, 5K Race, and Phillips Show-Me Safari Exotic Animal Petting Zoo. Events run Saturday, April 19th, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 20th, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Free Admission.
Art Show -- An Art Show featuring talented area artists will be held at the First Assembly of God on Friday and Saturday, April 18 th and 19th, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday, April 20th, from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Location: 608 South Main Street. Free Admission. Quilt Show -- A beautiful selection of quilts will be on display at United Methodist Church on Thursday and Friday, April 17th and 18th, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19th, from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 20th, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Admission is $2.00. Location: 1700 East Marshall.
Ice Cream Social -- Enjoy our old fashioned ice cream social at the Masonic Lodge, Saturday, April 19th, from 4:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Location: 301 South Center Street. Admission is $3.00 per person. Downtown Shops -- Stroll through downtown Charleston and visit their unique shops. Shop for gifts, clothing, antiques, hand-made candles, collectibles, and more. You never know what treasures you'll find! Location: Main Street. Free Admission.
D&R Classic Toy Train Exhibit -- Railroad displays and running of vintage model trains and accessories from the 1930s to present day will be on display Friday and Saturday, April 18th and 19th, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and Thursday and Sunday, April 17th and 20th from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Location: Mississippi County Library. Free Admission. Warren E. Hearnes Museum -- Stop by to view items from Governor Warren E. Hearnes' 22 years in elective office. Tours will be held Thursday and Friday, April 17th and 18th, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and Saturday, April 19th, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Location: 109 South Main Street. Free Admission.
Carriage Rides -- Carriage rides are available at Rowling Park on Saturday, April 19th, noon - 8:00 p.m., along designated portions of the Dogwood - Azalea Trail. Rides are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. Central States Trailways has charter transportation for groups of any size. Our coaches will accommodate up to 56 passengers each. When we take your family or group in comfortable luxury, getting there is half the fun!
